Hi, my name is Siav, I’m 30 years old and have 6 years of experience in electronics specializing in Radio Frequency (RF). I did a license in electronics and a master’s degree in RF at the University of Lille 1 in France. I have many experiences in RF and electronics which gave me the system and the engineering skills. My main experience is in aerospace, where I could test design and validate embedded systems for satellite RF communication.
What does it mean to be an Electronic System Engineer in Engineering?
Being an electronic system engineer is a system position where you can work on different aspects: architecture, design, and validation. It’s a challenging position where you have the opportunity to specify, test, and participate in new electronic projects.
Which skills are needed for this job position?
Firstly, technical skills which include: a strong electronics base, a good understanding of electronic architecture, troubleshooting, investigative skills, test set up and procedure.
As a plus, the use of C/ Python for the test bench may be required sometimes.
Soft skills such as autonomy, open-mindedness and curiosity are also required for this position.
How does an average day in the life of an Electronic System Engineer looks like?
An average day is to spend most of the time working on architecture, writing specifications, define test procedure and work in a lab for supporting the test and the troubleshooting.
What do you like about your job?
What I like the most is the technical aspects, to learn continuously and to provide challenging products/solutions.
It makes me feel more like an expert in my domain and being able to work on complex topics. Working in a technical environment and participate to new challenges is exciting and that is why I chose to work in engineering.
How can you develop your skills & experience at ALTEN?
As a consultant at ALTEN, I have the opportunity to change missions and to develop my own skills depending on the projects. The training support from the ALTEN Academy is also providing many possibilities for developing new skills.
What do you like about working at ALTEN?
I like the many possibilities in the choice of missions, and the communication with ALTEN in general, my business manager, the Academy, the other support functions…
Where do you see yourself in your future career?
I see myself in the technical domain as Expert of technical leader. But I have the willingness to continue in the technical domain.
